It is important to understand that change and development take time to manifest. Rushing into protests may lead to further instability. Instead, we must prioritize and restructure the three (3) arms of government constitutionally towards building a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria to reduce cost and wastes.
The Renewed Hope agenda set forth by President Tinubu is a step in the right direction. We must remain patient and committed to the vision of a better Nigeria for all. President Tinubu is not the sole architect of the challenges we face today as a nation. What of our Governors, Senators, house members as well as various houses of assembly in all the 36 states including Abuja? It is unfair to place the blame solely on his back.
In the current climate, engaging in protests may exacerbate existing tensions and create further divisions among our people. This is the best time for dialogue, collaboration, and constructive engagement to address our problems. Finding peaceful and inclusive solutions that will benefit all Nigerians is what we need now.
It is imperative that we all work together to build a more cohesive society and support our leaders in their efforts to bring about positive change.
Let us sympathize with this President. We must trust in the democratic process and uphold the values of justice, equality, and unity. We can overcome our challenges and emerge stronger as a nation.
I urge my fellow Nigerians to refrain from resorting to national protests as a means of addressing our socio-economic and political challenges. Let us have faith in the leadership of President Tinubu and allow the necessary time for his policies to take effect. In a little more than a year, this President gave us hope by Ensuring that our local government (third tier) becomes autonomous. Also, he signed into law both North West and South East Development Commission for grassroots development. THINK ABOUT THAT NIGERIANS! Together, we can build a brighter future for Nigeria, one that is characterized by peace, progress, and prosperity for all.
OUR PETITION not PROTEST:
- The Legislative arm of the government:
All Senators and Representatives should be paid per sitting. All members should only get housing and transportation subsidies. Wardrobe, newspaper, constituents and other allowances MUST be stopped.
They must be reminded that they are servants of the people and not the way round. This way, people who have the country at heart will come to represent his/her constituents in both houses.
The police are for peace and justice for all citizens and not only for politicians. All police officers should be removed from each member EXCEPT the Speaker and Senate President.
Everybody can hire or pay for their security services.
CALCULATE AND SEE WHAT IS BEING SAVED!
- EXECUTIVE BRANCH:
Because of the nature of the position, the president and vice president should maintain a sizable security to protect them. Our ministers should purchase their own cars and vehicles. They should be able to have Housing and vehicles subsidies as well as a police officer attached.
CALCULATE AND SEE WHAT IS BEING SAVED!
- JUDICIARY BRANCH:
This branch needs to be generally or wholly reformed.
They are poorly paid. The chief justice of the country as well as in various states MUST be well paid, given police officers to protect them. ALL judges, including magistrates throughout the country must be paid well due to the nature of their duties.
When one calculates ALL the savings from the three branches, the country can afford to pay the minimum wage comfortably and able to afford free healthcare and education to all citizens. Our roads will be fixed. There will be constant power that will spur investment.
CONSTITUENTS ALLOWANCES and LOCAL GOVERNMENT AUTONOMY is a duplication and a waste of money/resources.
In conclusion, let’s call for constitutional amendments and not Protest. We are going to achieve nothing by protesting.
Let’s give peace a chance. The president meant good for all Nigerians and we must support him by bringing ideas and suggestions to add to his agenda. I come in peace!
