In a continued effort to pursue plans and frameworks established on the sidelines of our participation at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), we consolidated discussions with representatives from Google on accelerating Nigeria’s digital transformation.
Building on that momentum, I held a follow-up meeting with Charles Murito, the Regional Director for Sub-Saharan Africa, Government Affairs & Public Policy, and Adewolu Adene, Head of West Africa, Government Affairs & Public Policy at Google. Our discussions centred on strategic collaborations in digitisation, capacity building, and digitizing Nigeria’s research ecosystem in order to provide access to critical research data.
Creating a centralised knowledge-sharing platform will enhance access to critical research, foster innovation, and bridge the gap between research institutions, policymakers, and industry stakeholders.
Our collaboration with Google will provide a leap in the integration of Google’s AI and Cloud solutions to transform our research landscape. By leveraging cloud computing, AI tools, and collaborative digital platforms, will not only modernise a long overdue research ecosystem; it will empower our research capabilities with the enabling of real-time data analysis, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and driving technological breakthroughs across various sectors.
This engagement reaffirms our continued commitment to innovation and technological advancement, and deepens our engagement with key global stakeholders so we can build a knowledge-driven economy that empowers researchers, entrepreneurs, and innovators alike.
The progress we’ve made in harnessing technology for national development, ensures that Nigeria remains at the forefront of digital innovation and scientific progress.
