The Enugu State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a scathing rebuttal to recent claims by Anambra-born billionaire businessman, Prince Arthur Eze, who publicly asserted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had endorsed Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State for a second term in office.
In an official statement released on Friday and signed by the APC Enugu State Publicity Secretary, Mr. Titus Ezeagu, the party dismissed Eze’s comments as “completely unfounded, noting that the businessman lacked both the political standing and moral authority to speak on behalf of the President.
The statement emphasized that Prince Arthur Eze is not a member of the APC and has never played any official role in President Tinubu’s political campaigns.administration, or party structure.
> “Prince Arthur Eze has no mandate whatsoever to speak on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. His comments are not only misleading but clearly demonstrate a pattern of using the President’s name to serve personal and partisan interests,” the statement read.
President Has Not Endorsed Any Governor.
The APC accused Eze of attempting to distort the political atmosphere in Enugu State by aligning Governor Mbah’s administration with President Tinubu’s leadership without justification. The party described such acts as a calculated effort to mislead the public and gain political mileage under false pretenses.
Warning Against Undermining Democracy
The APC Enugu State further warned Prince Eze and similar actors to refrain from making statements capable of undermining Nigeria’s fragile democratic institutions.
> “This is not the era of military despotism where access to Aso Rock could be used to intimidate political actors. Nigeria is in a democratic dispensation, and President Tinubu is a democrat with no history of undermining party structures or electoral institutions,” the APC
They urged Arthur Eze to channel his energy into salvageing what they described as a “crumbling PDP political structure,” rather than dragging President Tinubu’s name into local political maneuvering. In a biting critique.
The APC Enugu also reminded the public that this is not the first time Prince Eze has made such controversial endorsements. The party recalled a similar incident in Anambra State where Eze made a claim of support for Governor Charles Soludo, only to be countered later by a public reaffirmation from President Tinubu supporting the APC’s own governorship candidate, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu.
The party said such patterns clearly show Eze’s penchant for involving himself in political propaganda and misrepresentation of presidential intent, calling it an “embarrassing and dangerous trend” that must be rejected by all well-meaning Nigerians.
APC Reaffirms Support for Tinubu, Prepares for 2027
Concluding its statement, the Enugu State APC reaffirmed its full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” while assuring citizens that it remains committed to offering a viable political alternative to the ruling PDP in the state. The party pledged to continue its efforts to win the confidence of the people and field credible candidates in 2027.
