The Kaduna State Police Command confirmed that Umar Mohammed, the man who breached security during President Bola Tinubu’s speech in Kaduna on Thursday, June 20, 2025, is mentally ill.
According to Police spokesperson Mansir Hassan, Mohammed is a native of Anguwan Muazu in Kaduna and suffers from psychiatric disorders. He was described as an ardent supporter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), President Tinubu, and the Kaduna State Governor.
Mohammed, dressed in APC attire and carrying campaign banners, managed to gain entry like other screened attendees. During interrogation, he said his actions were driven by anxiety and excitement, stemming from a deep desire to meet the president and governor.
The disruption momentarily startled President Tinubu and his security detail, and video footage of the event has since gone viral, raising public concerns about security lapses at high-profile events.
