Enugu Police Arraign Levi Obieze, Two Others for Alleged Kidnappings, Ritual Killings in Ezeagu
The Enugu State Police Command on Wednesday arraigned Mr. Obi Levi Obieze and two others over alleged involvement in a series of kidnapping and ritual killings in the Umumba Ndiagu community and surrounding areas of Ezeagu Local Government Area.
The suspects, including Sabastine Emeka Offor and Odinwamkpa Ejike, were brought before His Worship Osondu Chukwuani at Magistrate Court 1, Enugu North, on a seven-count charge ranging from conspiracy to kidnapping and murder.
Obieze, popularly known as “E dey play, e dey show”, was arrested at the Badagry-Seme border while attempting to flee the country. His arrest followed coordinated efforts between the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Immigration Service, and other security agencies.
According to the charge sheet (No. MEN/473c/2025), signed by the Prosecutor and Head of the Legal Team, SP Justice Attah, the accused are alleged to have committed a series of violent crimes between April and May 2025.
Among the charges, the defendants are accused of kidnapping three individuals, including a 13-year-old girl, Ukamaka; 15-year-old Chimaobi Ezi; and 31-year-old Joy Miracle Udokamma. Two of the victims, Chimaobi and Joy, were allegedly murdered.
The offences are punishable under various sections of the Criminal Code of Enugu State, including Sections 274(1), 315(2), 494, and 495(a).
The defendants pleaded not guilty to all charges. However, given the gravity of the alleged crimes, the Magistrate ruled that the matter be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for review and reassignment to a higher court, as the Magistrate Court lacks jurisdiction over capital offences.
The case was adjourned to August 20, with the accused ordered to be remanded in prison custody.
