Nigeria, Brazil Sign Landmark MoU on Science, Technology & Innovation

Brasília, August 25, 2025 — A new era has begun in Nigeria–Brazil relations with the signing of a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Science, Technology and Innovation (STI).

Witnessed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR of Nigeria and President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of Brazil, the MoU was signed by Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, and Luciana Santos, Brazil’s Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation.

Key Areas of Cooperation
The MoU lays out an ambitious agenda covering:

• Biotechnology & Bioeconomy: advancing food security, green chemistry, and health.
• Ocean Science: renewable marine energy, biodiversity protection, and climate action.
• Energy: oil & gas research, biofuels, energy transition, and training.
• Space Research: satellite development, rocketry, AI-based data analytics, andforest monitoring.
• Digital Transformation & Innovation Ecosystems: startup hubs, industry–university collaborations, and open innovation platforms.
• Raw Materials Development: industrial processing, value addition, and bilateral pilot projects.
