Enugu governor, Dr Peter Mbah today commissioned the Emene Centre of the state computierized vehicle inspection Centre. The Governor who was represented by the commissioner for transport, Dr obi ozor, charged road users to obtain their road worthiness certificates as this will go a long way in reducing accidents on our roads
Dr Mbah said the commissioning of the facility ushers-in a new era of transportation safely and efficiency in Enugu state, noting that it is a testament to his administration’s dedication to modernizing the state infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life of the citizenry.
The Governor who stated that the centre is equipped with modern technology designed to provide comprehensive and accurate inspections of vehicles, expressed optimism that the initiative will not only reduce the incidence of road accidents caused by faulty vehicles but also cut-down on harmful emissions, contributing to a healthier environment.
Earlier, the group managing director of temple group limited Segun Obayande, appreciated the Governor for giving them the opportunity to operate in the state. Saying the company was already in 28 states in Nigeria.
According to him, he had the intention of bringing the company to Enugu since 2013 but only got the approval when the present administration of Peter Mbah came in.
He expressed his appreciation and said the company will continue to ensure that all the vehicles plying the road are safe.
The Enugu State Chief Vehicle Inspection Officer, Engr Valentine Chime in his speech, advised motorists to avoid plying the roads if their vehicles did not undergo the inspection test, said private vehicles are expected to undergo the inspection test annually, while commercial vehicles are twice a year .
In a goodwill message, the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Enugu, Corps Commander Sokumbi Adeyemi said the facility, if put into proper use, will reduce mechanical deficient vehicles on the road, and encouraged vehicles owners to support the lofty initiative.
Mr Francis Ede, the secretary of the Association of Mass Transport Operators assured that the association must key into the initiative for optimal use of the facility.
Present at the event were the commissioner of Special duties, Emeka Ajogwu, commissioner for human capital development and poverty reduction, Dr Malachy Agbo, General Commander, 82 division, Brig General M.M Abu represented by O.A Teslum, the Permanent Secretary ministry of transport lkechukwu Nnamoko among others.
