DUNUKOFIA RANKS ONLY HOMOGENEOUS COUNCIL AREA IN NIGERIA……. ANAMBRA TC CHAIRMAN

The Chairman Transition Committee for Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State,Mr.Augustine Nonyelu,has described the Council Area as the only homogeneous Local Government Area in Nigeria today.
The Chairman, who made the assertion while receiving in an audience the State Director National Orientation Agency ( NOA),Awka,Mr Edozie Ajaegbu and some members of his Management Staff who were in his office on familiarization tour,said that the Local Government Area had existed back sixteenth century before the coming of Government in the area.
Mr.Nonyelu,who commended the NOA programmes in Anambra State and elsewhere in the Country, described the Director’s visit as s welcome development as it would afford him an opportunity to explore areas the Agency could partner the Local Government Area in its human oriented projects in the area.
While tracing the history of the Local Government Area,the Chairman Transition Committee,Mr.Nonyelu,defined Dunukofia as the land of the great people, whom he said believe solely on their cultural integration and assimilation with a view to retaining the cultures of their land.
He further described people of the Local Government Area as the only people who know were they come from and what they are,saying that their culture is not inimical to human existence and assured the Director and his team that his Government is in good term with the NOA staff in the Local Government Area.
He noted that the Local Government is putting things in proper places to modify some of the obnoxious traditions and customs which,he said were before now inimical to the fundamental rights of widows in the area,adding that he was an advocacy of proper orientation in the State.
He stated that the Local Government as a Christian Community has produced a lot of prominent personalities in the Country both in Christian world and the Government who have impacted positively for the development of the Country,pointing out that Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s Government has done extremely well in all facets of the State economy.
Earlier,the NOA State Director,Mr.Edozie Ajaegbu,told the Chairman that he came to introduce himself to him having being transfered recently from Abuja to Anambra State as the substantive Director of the NOA in the State.
He said that the Agency is ready to serve the Council Area, especially in the area of information dissemination and sensitization of the people on the developmental policies, Programmes and activities of the Council area.
While assuring the people that there were better chances for Nigeria to move forward,the NOA Director,pleaded with the Chairman to work in tandem with the NOA staff in the Local Government Area,whom he that have all takes to sensitize the people on his projects in the area.
From her,the Deputy Director Special Duties and the Local Government Coordinator,Mrs Ifeoma Chijioke, maintained that NOA cannot achieve its mandates completely in the area without synergizing with the Local Government and the people.
She pleaded the Council Chairman to always deem it feat to invite the NOA staff in the Local Government at his routine meeting with the Traditional Rullers in the area with a view to educating them on all they needed to know about the inherent dangers of drug abuse, examination malpractice,cultism and obnoxious maltreatment of the widows in the society.
