Sen.Ngwu Commends Enugu Govt, Security Operatives Approach In Tackling Insecurity In Uzo-Uwani LGA

The Senate Minority Whip and Senator representing Enugu West Senatorial district, Sen. Osita Ngwu had appreciated the security personnels and the government of Enugu State under Dr. Peter Mbah for their robust efforts so far in dealing with the insecurity situations in the state especially in Uzo Uwani LGA.

The Senate Minority Whip of the 10th National Assembly appreciated them on Wednesday 15th of May, at the Senate plenary.

Sen. Ngwu said Dr. Peter Mbah, the governor of the state and the security operatives had visited the communities in the Local government affected by recent attacks by bandits, provided them with relief materials.

He further said that the state and security personnels had united and vowed to tackle and end the bastardly acts, the insecurity issues in the state.

He pleaded for more proactive measures and approach for a permanent end to the incessant attack on the people of the communities.

Sen. Ngwu, who was a co-sponsor of a motion moved on the floor of the senate, on the need for the Chief of Army staff and Inspector general of police to urgently stop the senseless killings of law abiding indigenes of Adani and Nimbo communities in Uzo Uwani LGA of Enugu state by bandits.

Recently, on April 7 and 28 respectively, many innocent people of Adani and Nimbo communities were attacked and massacred gruesomely by suspected bandits which invaded the communities.

During the plenary, Senate under the care of His Excellency, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, resolved and directed heads of security personnels to investigate, arrest and prosecute the persons behind the attacks. Senate further urged its committees on legislative compliance, police Affairs and National security intelligence to ensure compliance and proffer lasting solution.

Furthermore, it urged NEMA and Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs to provide relief materials to the affected communities.

Recalled that many attacks had been carried out by bandits on some communities in Uzo Uwani LGA in 2016 which claimed many lives and many houses were burnt down completely.
