The PDP Governors from the 13 states of the federation, has declared their support for Labour’s Agitation as it concerns the new minimum wage and the LG Autonomy.
This was made known to newsmen by the PDP Governors forum under the leadership of HE. Governor Bala .A. Mohammed CON at the end of Governor’s forum held.at the government house Enugu, on the 17th of July 2024 .
While reading out the communique before the newsmen, after the meeting, the Governor’s acknowledged that the minimum wage negotiations are becoming unduly protracted. In the face of the unprecedented hardship and improvishment of majority of Nigerians.
Labour’s demands for a substantial salary range is eminently justified.
The governors said agreement must take into consideration the ability to pay by the local government sub-national and Federal government.
As it concerns the supreme Court ruling on local government allocation, the Governor’s said they believe in efficiency of local government system which ensures that government is bought closer to the people as provided for in the constitution.
However, the forum, urges that the implementation of court decision must be done in a manner that does not create a trust deficit between the Federal Government and sub-national government while ensuring that the system does not suffer.
On the Rivers State’s crises, the Governor’s resolved to stand by the Rivers State Governor Sir Sim Fubara, while at the same time employ wider consultation with stakeholders for a peaceful resolution and thus find a lasting solution to the crises.
The forum condemned the APC led government which they say has put citizens into total hardship, as the inflation rate of the country has doubled from what it used to be during the 16 years of tremendous development under the PDP led Federal government.
The Forum identifies with the Nigeria populace in this troubling Times and promises to bring back those good old days of low inflation rate, affordable food , fuel, and transportation, steady FDI and lnflows resulting in high Naira value and the greater quality of human life as recorded.
The meeting commended the governor’s of PDP controlled state for the innovative approach to governance in field’s like infrastructure, Education, health, women and youth empowerment.
The Forum also commended the host Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State for holding the party together not only in Enugu but the entire south Eastern geo political zone as well as extolled his achievements as evident with major land mark projects.
