The Enugu State Government has imposed a ban on the unauthorized pasting of posters on public and private structures, warning that violators could face fines of up to N50 million.

The directive was issued on Thursday by Frank Aninwike, the General Manager of the Enugu State Structures for Signages and Advertisement Agency (ENSSAA).
According to Aninwike, pasting or displaying posters on buildings, walls, highways, or any outdoor surface without prior written approval from ENSSAA is now strictly prohibited.
“This is to inform political parties, churches, schools, printers, advertisers, marketers, and producers that henceforth, no person or entity should paste or display any poster on public or private structures without permission from the agency,” he stated.
The new directive is backed by Section 4(1,g), Section 33, and Section 34(4,9) of the ENSSAA Law, 2016, which empowers the agency to regulate outdoor advertisements and maintain a clean urban environment.

The Enugu government emphasized that the policy aims to curb defacement of public spaces and ensure a well-organized outdoor environment. The ENSSAA will intensify enforcement efforts to prevent illegal poster placements across the state.
Stakeholders and the general public are urged to adhere strictly to the directive to avoid penalties.
