The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) Wednesday flagged off the resettlement of over two hundred beneficiaries who participated in the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative skills training in Enugu.
The beneficiaries were equipped with startup packs which include sewing machines for fashion and design; welding tools for fabrication; seed planting machines for farming; as well as electrical tools for electrical works.
The lucky beneficiaries who underwent a three-month intensive training were also given soft loans to help them establish for the skills they acquired so that they will hit the ground running that would eventually make them not only income earners but employers of labour.
Speaking at the occasion, the Director General of NDE, Silas Agara, represented by the Enugu State Coordinator of NDE, Mrs Adaku Ojobo, said that the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative has three core pillars which include Skills Development, Resettlement and Job Creation.
Agara said that a total number of five thousand five hundred and thirty two, 5,532 beneficiaries would be resettled with loans and starter packs nationwide to enable them establish their own businesses.
He therefore urged the beneficiaries to make proper use of the loans and the startup packs to better their lives and to ensure that it has a multiplier effect of training and empowering others as well.
In a goodwill message, a representative of NDE Abuja, Mrs Okereke Chikodili urged the beneficiaries to represent NDE well by utilising what they learnt during the training and the empowerment packages they were given. “Don’t bury the skills you have acquired so that others will benefit from it. Now that you have learnt the skills, impact it on others,” she encouraged.
