Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah Rounds Off Familiarization Tour, Pledges Greater Support for Women in Enugu West
The people of Enugu West Senatorial Zone turned out in large numbers on Saturday to welcome the wife of the Enugu State Governor, Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah, as she concluded her familiarization tour across the state’s three senatorial zones in Awgu. The tour focused on building grassroots connections and reinforcing the administration’s commitment to women empowerment and inclusive development.
Addressing the gathering, Mrs Mbah emphasized that her role is centered on service and advocacy for causes that uplift families, women, children, and communities.
> “We must work together to eliminate the socio-economic and cultural barriers that hinder women’s progress. I am committed to supporting skills acquisition, maternal health, ending gender-based violence, and expanding access to education. No woman should be left behind,” she said.
Mrs Mbah reaffirmed the essential role women play in building a strong society and expressed her intent to tailor programs and policies based on the concerns voiced by the people during her visits.
Former Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Hon. Mrs Cecilia Ezeilo, speaking on behalf of Enugu West stakeholders, thanked Mrs Mbah for her unwavering support to Governor Peter Mbah, which she said has contributed to his outstanding governance. She praised the governor’s developmental achievements, which she noted are visible across all 260 political wards in the state, and expressed confidence in his re-election prospects for 2027.
Other dignitaries who delivered goodwill messages included the PDP State Chairman, Dr. Martin Chukwuwike; Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uche Ugwu; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Victor Udeh; Commissioner for Children, Gender and Social Development, Mrs Ngozi Enih; and Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mrs Ugochi Mmadueke.
Chairmen of the five local government areas in Enugu West—Hon. Prince Ugochukwu Nwanjoku (Aninri), Dr. Vita Ndu (Ezeagu), Hon. Greg Anyaegbudike (Oji River), Hon. Hyginus Agu (Udi), and Hon. Uchenna Okolo (Awgu)—lauded Governor Mbah’s transformative projects, including the construction of 260 smart schools, 260 primary health centres, and 260 farm estates, along with an international conference centre and a five-star hotel.
They pledged continued support for the governor and assured that his re-election in 2027 is a collective priority for the people of Enugu West.
