The Enugu state government held a workshop on Friday through the state SME center on the domestication of Nigeria start up Act (NSA).
Speaking during the workshop which had over 100 participates the Special Adviser to the governor on digital economy and MSMEs and Director General, Enugu SME Centre, Arinze Chilo- Offiah said the Nigeria start up Act is aimed at promoting innovation, regulatory efficiency and improved funding access for start ups .
He said the startup Act which was signed into law on October 19, 2022, is a significant milestone in the country’s journey to promote innovation and entrepreneurship.
As Enugu state sets it’s sights in creating a vibrant tech ecosystem this law is expected to play a crucial role in fostering growth and development.
The Act he said provides several benefits to startups including tax relief, training and capacity building workshops and regulatiing clarity for companies building New solutions with Innovative technologies.
He said to fully leverage on the benefit of the Nigeria startup Act, the state is focusing on creating a conducive business environment, complete with infrastructure and funding opportunities. By doing this , the state will position itself as a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship, attracting startups and investors from across the country.
The special Adviser to the Givernor on revenue. Adenike Okebu, said the programme was very vital for the state, she said when the youth’s thrive, the state will strive too.
He head strategy research and analytics office of Nigeria digital innovation Jerry Zannes in his speech said they want to ensure the startup is not just held at the federal level but to be domesticated across the state’s. He said Enugu can create it’s own investment scheme creating enabling environment for eco system not just at the Federal level but bringing it down to state levels.
