A non-governmental organisation, Women Support Women Community Network (WOSCONET), has described Governor Peter Ndubisi Mbah of Enugu state as the Women Inclusive Champion 2025.
The NGO said this was because of Gov. Mbah’s approach which included appointment of women into key government positions in the state.
The group made the commendation at Ibagwa Nike Town Hall as part of the ongoing celebration of the 2025 International Women’s Day (IWD).
President of WOSCONET, Ambassador Amaka Nweke, in her address at the occasion said that Governor Mbah had demonstrated an unwavering commitment to gender balance by ensuring that women were not only represented in governance but were also empowered to lead meaningful reforms, hence he was described as “Women Inclusive Champion.”
“Today, we recognize Governor Peter Mbah as the Women Inclusive Champion 2025. He has prioritised female representation in his administration, ensuring that women are active in decision-making process across various sectors.
“His administration has initiated and supported policies that enhance women’s participation in local governance, enterpreneurship and economic development,” she said.
The WOSCONET boss pointed out that Mbah in his inclusive governance had given appointments to women more than the expected 35% affirmative for women.
Speaking on the theme of the 2025 International Women’s Day celebration tagged, “She Wins: From Promises to Progress – Women Women Accelerate Action for Inclusive Governance and Empowering Grassroots Movements for a Sustainable Future,” Nweke urged women to take their fate in their hands and not be dependent or allowed to be boxed into a corner.
She also said that women should move beyond rhetorics to take decisive action.
