President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday presided over the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Prior to the commencement of deliberations, the President swore in Nnana Uzor Kalu as the new commissioner representing the Southeast geopolitical zone in the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC). The brief oath-taking ceremony was conducted in the presence of top government functionaries.
The Council also observed a minute’s silence in honour of the late Navy Captain Caleb Olubolade, a former cabinet member who died on May 11, 2025. Olubolade served in multiple ministerial capacities under former President Goodluck Jonathan, including as Minister of Special Duties, Minister of State for the FCT, and Minister of Police Affairs. He was also the former military administrator of Bayelsa State during General Sani Abacha’s regime.
The meeting was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Dr. Didi Walson-Jack, as well as numerous cabinet ministers and high-ranking officials.
This marks the first FEC gathering since the special session on July 17 held in honour of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on July 13 at the age of 82.
Additionally, the Tinubu administration has approved ₦1.6 trillion for Section Two of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and other critical infrastructure projects, reaffirming its commitment to national development and regional integration.
