The Enugu State Government has directed all former political appointees in the state to return official and diplomatic passports issued to them while in office.

According to a statement from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), the affected individuals are required to submit the documents to the SSG’s office at the Government House, Enugu, on or before Friday, September 5, 2025.

The directive is in line with a nationwide compliance order from the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), which mandates the retrieval of diplomatic and official passports from former office holders.

Government officials explained that the measure is aimed at ensuring proper regulation, accountability, and preventing misuse of passports that grant diplomatic privileges.

The statement further urged all concerned to comply with the order promptly to avoid sanctions.
