The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced the release of the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results for school candidates, with 60.26 per cent of students recording five credits and above, including Mathematics and English Language.
Registrar of the council, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, made this known while briefing journalists at the NECO headquarters in Minna on Wednesday. He revealed that a total of 1,358,339 candidates sat for the examination conducted between June 16 and July 25, 2025, with 818,492 candidates meeting the benchmark of five credits, including English and Mathematics.
When credits in English and Mathematics are not mandatory, the number of successful candidates rises to 1,144,496, representing 84.26 per cent.
Wushishi also disclosed that 3,878 candidates were involved in various forms of malpractice, a significant drop of about 61.6 per cent compared to the 10,094 cases recorded in 2024.
The registrar added that 1,622 special-needs candidates sat for the examination, including those with hearing and visual impairments, and that arrangements were made to accommodate their needs.
He further noted that eight schools in Lamorde Local Government Area of Adamawa State were affected by communal conflict during the exams, disrupting 13 subjects and 29 papers. NECO said it is working with the affected communities to reschedule those papers.
Candidates can access their results by visiting the NECO result portal at results.neco.gov.ng, selecting the 2025 SSCE Internal option, and entering their examination number and result-checking token.
The release of the results comes 54 days after the conclusion of the examinations, continuing NECO’s trend of prompt result processing and release.
