The National Vice Chairman (South-East) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, has called on members of the party in Enugu State to remain committed to the APC and continue supporting the economic reforms and policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking at a zonal stakeholders’ engagement meeting held at the APC Enugu State Secretariat on Thursday, Dr. Arodiogbu praised President Tinubu’s “bold and courageous” policies, particularly the removal of petrol subsidy and exchange rate revaluation. While acknowledging that the policies were tough, he assured members that the reforms were necessary to rescue the nation’s economy from collapse.
“These policies are painful but critical. Even opposition leaders who criticise these policies today had planned to remove subsidy if elected. Now, we are already seeing positive signs in reduced inflation and currency stabilisation. The economy is on the path to recovery and will soon witness a boom,” Arodiogbu stated.
He urged party faithful not to be distracted by opposition politicians, describing them as “confused coalition politicians” who, according to him, are politically displaced and irrelevant.
The APC zonal leader commended President Tinubu, Imo State Governor and APC South-East leader Sen. Hope Uzodimma, Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology Chief Uche Nnaji, and the APC Enugu State Chairman Barr. Ugochukwu Agballah for their efforts in strengthening the party in the state.
Arodiogbu noted that Enugu APC has recorded significant growth since the 2023 elections, describing it as the fastest-growing political party in the South-East. He also assured members that more federal appointments and job opportunities are on the way for the state’s party loyalists.
Earlier, APC Enugu State Chairman Barr. Agballah highlighted the reforms within the state chapter, crediting Dr. Arodiogbu and Governor Uzodimma for their guidance. He said the party has been repositioned and is now focused on taking power from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which he accused of misgoverning the state for 27 years.
“We are no longer a rag-tag opposition. Today, Enugu APC is disciplined, united, and growing fast. The recent defection of three sitting House of Representatives members into APC is proof of our progress,” Agballah declared.
In her address, State Woman Leader Prof. Amaka Onu noted that APC’s recent success in Enugu State was unprecedented, attributing it to focused and disciplined leadership at both state and zonal levels.
She encouraged women and youth leaders to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The stakeholders’ meeting was attended by members of the state executive committee, local government chairmen, women and youth leaders, and ward executives from across Enugu State.
