Nigeria has received international commendation as the country has been officially removed from the list of high-risk or “dangerous” nations, according to the latest Global Security Index Report 2025.
The report highlighted Nigeria’s remarkable improvement in national security, counter-terrorism operations, and reduction in violent crimes across the country.
International monitoring agencies attributed the upgrade to the federal government’s renewed focus on security reforms, improved intelligence coordination, and enhanced collaboration with regional and global partners.
Speaking on the development, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar, said the delisting was “a well-deserved acknowledgment of the government’s consistent efforts to restore peace and investor confidence.”
“This milestone demonstrates that the world is recognising Nigeria’s steady progress toward safety, stability, and prosperity,” Tuggar stated.
Security experts have also noted that while some areas still require attention, the general security outlook of the country has improved significantly, paving the way for greater foreign investment and tourism.
